![]() What I would like to do is have Smartthings check the status of my tilt sensor, at a certain time (9pm), and if open click the relay to close the garage. On my garage I have a tilt sensor and the Linear relay setup to open and close my garage door. However, if you do a search you will find that it has already been possible to send inaudible commands to Siri and Alexa ( ), send commands hidden in music and speech recordings ( ), and, more anecdotally, I have had Google Assistant respond to commands sent through walls. I thought I saw an app for what I want to do but now I cant find it. I think the chances of a thief or someone who might have ill intentions taking advantage of these types of exploits in your home is pretty rare. But i would much rather it be integrated into Smart Things. Cant use a relay to trip the door, since it uses serial communications from the button to the door. It uses a proprietary system for remote access. ![]() So I set my phone up as a mobile presence and it asked me what I wanted it to do when I arrive home. I am assuming this is for security concerns. I have a chamberlain MyQ garage door opener. Even to find a smart app in the iOS app is difficult as nothing is categorized and named in ways that make it quick and easy to navigate. When I linked MyQ with Google Assistant originally using their partner subscriptions ($10/year), it did not support opening or closing the garage door (just status which is ridiculous when you think about it). Many developers have deliberately not included automatically opening/unlocking doors in their feature set with smart assistants. ![]() You can now use Google Assistant routines and shortcuts to say, “Open/Close Garage door.” This will propagate on all accounts that share Google Home Mini’s in your home.īe aware that this may be a security concern for you to consider. A couple years and about 120 devices later I set up the Something Left Open smart app on the old app and it carried forward when I migrated to the new. There are still smartapps, for people who want to write them, but you have to host it yourself and communicate with smartthings through the API. I started here as well, needed something to tell me the kids left the garage door open at sunset because I was tired of it being left open all night. Added/published three handlers and the smart app via the IDE portal. I followed Zooz instructions found at Added the device to the hub without any issues. The Weather Windows SmartApp will use any temperature-sensing device you have inside your home to measure the temperature–ex: SmartSense Multi sensor, Aeon Multi Sensor, a SmartSense Temp/Humidity sensor, or a smart thermostat, etc. The SmartApp lets you select your ideal indoor temperature (example: between 65 and 70 degrees) and then compares the weather outside to that in your home and sends you a notification if you should open or close your windows to achieve your preferred comfort zone. ![]() Weather Windows makes saving money on your energy bills a breeze. ![]()
